My Story…

“The two most important days in your life are the day you’re born
and the day you find out why.”

This quote from Mark Twain comes to mind when describing why I became a Physician Assistant. I have always had a genuine love for what I do, and it requires constant self-reflection, faith and unyielding determination to give the highest quality patient care. I am thankful to God for the blessings and abilities I have been given and the honor He has bestowed upon me to care for people. I believe in giving back to the community and have provided no-charge care to underserved people through Doctor’s Care and Alternative’s Pregnancy Center. I have traveled to Mexico and Nicaragua on mission trips caring for men, women and children enslaved in human sex trafficking. This continues to be a passion of mine, and The Denver Street School, Sarah’s Home, House of Hope in Nicaragua and Hope Academy are organizations I advocate for and support.

Through this journey I began 30 years ago I’ve acquired a depth of knowledge that only comes with experience. From working in surgery and recovery room at St. Joseph Hospital right out of high school, to working in an OB/GYN office before I attended PA school, I absorbed everything I could. My passion for surgery led me to 1 of the only 2 surgical PA programs in the country.

After graduating from the UAB Surgical Physician Assistant Program in 2000, I worked in cosmetic plastic surgery and dermatology for several years. I was then offered an exceptional position at CLINIX, where I have been since 2005. This has been the most rewarding position for me as it has given me the opportunity to deliver care that integrates multiple methods for treating and preventing diseases as well as advocating optimal health and well-being. I believe in offering alternatives to prescription medications when possible, such as herbal supplements and vitamins, chiropractic treatment, and lifestyle modifications. It has been a joy and a privilege to care for so many patients and families through the years.

One of my specialties is treating migraine headaches. Being a migraine patient myself, and coming from a family of migraineurs, I understand the debilitating nature of this disorder, and chronic headaches in general. I strive to stay abreast of the latest treatment options, continually collaborating with some of the best neurologists in the area. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is helping migraine patients improve their quality of life. Given the right treatment plan my patients have enjoyed a significant reduction in their headache frequency and intensity, many as much as 70-80%. Please come see me if you suffer from chronic headaches.
